The history of the city
The settlement dates back 100 000 years ago.
Before the Slavic tribes this place was inhabited by Celts and Germans.
The first written reference to the Hungarian town of Kosice comes from 1230.
In 1639 Ludwig Anjou granted Kosice their own coat of arms.
Until 1918 Slovakia was again under Hungarian influence this was until 1945.
In february 1948 communist party seized power in Czechoslovakia.The city became part of the Easter Bloc.
The country of Slovakia was established in the year 1993 on the 1st of January.
